CYCLING IN LARDER LAKE

<< -- Back Home
Moose sightings are common Cycling West from Larder Lake to Kirkland Lake is 17.5 miles, a nice ride on a road bike. The road has good pavement, long hills and nice flats. A 35 mile round trip-2 hrs. One (1) water bottle for sure, maybe two. Watch for moose.

Biking East into Quebec to the Kanasuta Ski Club road is 15 miles, big long hills, (see photo of hill at Kearns), a road bike with big gears and small gears is essential, pavement is older with lots of cracks, it's a 30 mile round trip-2 hrs. Two (2) water bottles for sure, there is a spring at the Bear Lake area. You will burn lots of calories and sweat profusely. A cold beer goes down really nice at the end of this ride.

Pedaling South on Hwy 624 a cold roll paved road to Englehart is 27 miles, 54 miles round trip with a lot of ups and downs. Two (2) water bottles and about 4 hrs. There is a nice spring about 8 miles south of Larder, fill er up. I recommend a mountain bike on this road because the surface is very course with loose gravel in places.

The clean fresh air, the fantastic scenery and good roads with courteous drivers allow for a wonderful cycling experience. This form of exercise is one of the best to help burn off that stuff you grew around the middle over the winter.
